  How to talk to an Elder (Need help ASAP)

  i never was a jehovahs witness.

  its been stated.

  so if i went up to a local congregation and knocked on the door how would i get to talk to an elder about my mother in law.... i have no interest in being a witness.

  after we put all our money into getting this house caught up on the mortgage the mother started with the insults and backing out of financial agreements

  after we paid our end.

  You don't happen to have any of those agreements in writing, do you?

  In many parts of the world, they are already experiencing regular rolling blackouts and no backup generators.

  Hate to break it to ya, but that's how I grew up in the 80's behind the Iron Curtain - with regular rolling blackouts every winter, not even knowing what a backup generator is....

  There's gotta be another faction in the Writing Department, either that or they can't see the irony.

  the past two week's worth of wt studies have made a couple points that appear contradictory in nature.

  yesterday was too much, i felt at least.

  either there's another faction within the writing department fighting for the equivalent of airtime in the literature, or they're all so indoctrinated that they fail to see the irony in what they publish.. for instance, take paragraph 5 from last week's lesson.. 5. unlike the law codes of many countries, "the perfect law" is neither complex nor burdensome but consists of simple commandements and principles.

  is it possible that ideals line up to the extent that we can relate to an org or any other entity and be just that, instead of...mind control?

  Ummm, no.

  Try to change your "ideals" a bit and run it by you local elders to see how it goes...

  Like, deciding to grow a beard, for the most innocent of examples....

  what the bible "says" isn't religion or doctrine or belief.. interpretation is.. proved how?.

  there is not just one christian church.. ask yourself "why?".

  Terry, glad to see you are feeling better.

  Now, devil's advocate. You say:

  " Example: If a math book with equations were inerrant what would happen if every student in the world worked the equations?

  Answer: all students would achieve identical solutions."

  Correction: all students should come to the same answer. There can be thousands of different ways to solve the equation (and I believe there is infact a Guiness world record for number of different ways to solve a math problem).

  Couldn't Christianity hide behind the same idea? If the end goal (second coming and going to heaven) is the same, why one way of getting there would be better than another?

  And since the answer still remains to be seen, we are technically still solving the equation....

  this weekend was the convention for the southern san francisco bay area.

  it was held at the santa clara convention center in the silicon valley http://www.santaclara.org/conventioncenter/ which is an improvement over the old s.f.

  cow palace which is still used..just not as much.

  my mother just told me today that her cousin's wife has extended an invite for me to attend their 35th wedding anniversary.

  i find that i'm not in the mood to be surrounding by a group of jws especially since said cousin and his wife are both jws and i did accept the wife as a friend on facebook where i've been none too discreet about my distaste for the society.

  so much has happened the last few days in my world.

  i am handling it all very well don't worry!.

  my daughter left her mothers home, so very hard to do and she has been so very brave and strong.
